On a glorious morning our volunteers were on hand to plant over 100 saplings provided by The Woodland Trust along the Jubilee Path.
Species that were planted included Goat Willow, Hazel, Holly, and Birch. They will create an understory to some of the larger trees we have planted encouraging wildlife, and enhancing biodiversity. The stakes are marked with white paint so we can find them again to keep them free of weeds.
We also stared our bee monitoring and there were plenty out enjoying the early flowers including a large clump of Comfrey.
Our litter pickers worked around the pond and along Jubilee Path this month picking up underpants, a cheese grater, and a large sodden book, along with the usual cans bottles and food packaging we often find.
A most welcome break came half-way through our working party as we were joined by our refreshment provider who came with tea and coffee, plus sweet nibbles to keep us going!
