South Pond Group - March 2025 Working Party

In March we had a small but mighty turnout. This was our last opportunity to work in the wooded area along Jubilee Path before the area needs to left as not to disturb the nesting birds. We checked on the new trees and hedging and cut back the overgrown areas ready for the spring flowers to bloom.

The glorious sunny weather also meant we could conduct our monthly bee monitoring.

We identified various species including the Buff-tailed, Early, Garden bumblebee, as well as the more rare British Black bumblebee. Finding these multiple species is good as it promotes greater biodiversity.

Unfortunately, we did find lots of litter including a microwave – please help keep your local pond tidy by disposing of your waste properly.
